Photograph (print)
Surface girl workers queuing for the pay. This is probably a photograph from the Lancashire coalfield in the early 1900s. The girls are not dressed in the Welsh manner - the headscarves instead of hats or caps, and trousers underneath their aprons, together with wooden clogs.
