Cup and saucer

Frankenthal State Factory

Cup, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, cylindrical sides tapering inwards towards the foot-rim, very slightly flaring lip-rim, double-curved loop handle with foliate moulding to the shoulder; painted in polychrome enamels with to the front of the cup a scene showing a male and female figure seated in a rural landscape with trees and bushes, around the rest of the exterior sides of the cup scattered floral and foliate sprigs, a puce edge to the lip-rim, the handle picked out in puce. Saucer, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, rounded curving sides; painted in polychrome enamels with to the centre of the well a landscape scene showing a male figure in red seated on grass amidst ferns and low plants, scattered sprigs of floral and foliate sprigs around the sides of the well, a puce edge to the rim.
