Plate in hard-paste porcelain, inset base, cushion-moulded body with wide flange and plain rim; painted at the centre with a coat of arms incorporating a shield with an ecclesiastical buiding and dog crossing three black ducks and a chevron with elaborate ribbon banners in pink, black and grey enamels above and below, the armorial crest incorporates a knight's helmet, a man's head and a dagger, this is encircled at the well by a fleur-de-lys and pendant border in blue and white enamel beneath two plain black lines of enamel, the flange with four cartouches, two painted with a man's head and the remaining with a dagger, each framed by a border of red and gilt scrolls, at the rim is a scalloped band beneath a plain band with gilding between, above this is a band of brown enamel with gilt.
Commissioned in China, this plate is decorated with the arms of Lewis Pryce (1684-1720) of Gogenddan, Cardiganshire.
