Postcard
Colour Postcard : Welsh Girl in costume. Sent to Miss A.A. Jones of New Quay. Postmarked 17 January 1911.
Postcards such as this popularised the image of the Welsh costume. Thousands were produced as souvenirs. They showed the Welsh lady drinking tea, reading the Bible or spinning outside her cottage. The aim was to portray Wales as a welcoming and wholesome place. Postcards contributed to the Welsh costume becoming a national icon.
