Grave lantern
Am 9:13 y bore Gwener hwnnw, disgynnodd miloedd o dunelli o wastraff glo ar Ysgol Gynradd Pantglas a rhannau eraill o'r pentref gan ladd 116 o blant a 28 oedolyn.
Grave lantern placed on the grave of Carl Minett of Aberfan. He was seven years old when he was killed in his classroom in Pantglas Junior School, Aberfan on 21 October 1966. His ten-year-old sister, Marylyn, was also killed. After the disaster, a local company donated grave lanterns to all the bereaved families to place on the graves of their loved ones. Marylyn and Carl Minett's family remember the Aberfan cemetery was lit up at night with the candles of the lanterns representing every life that was lost.
At 9:13 that Friday morning thousands of tonnes of black coal waste from an unstable tip slid down the mountain. It instantly engulfed Pantglas Junior School and parts of the village killing a total of 116 children and 28 adults.
