Floral face mask. Given by volunteers to Tŷ Doctor surgery, Nefyn, during the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Made from printed cotton fabric. Pattern of flowers against a diaper pattern of diagonal lines which form squares that contain small red flowers and small suns. Colours are brown, beige, dark blue, purple, red and green. Lined in the same fabric. Mask is made from a rectangle which has been folded into pleats. The pleats are secured at the sides where they are encapsulated in pale brown cotton bias tape which extends into ties. The bias tape is stitched on with machine stitches using white thread. Section fitting over nose incorporates a thin, 8cm long wire to give a better fit. The wire is contained in a narrow channel made by a row of machine stitches using blue thread.
