Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This young shepherdess with her flock of sheep compares to earlier works by French artists such as Jean-Francois Millet and Camille Corot. Mauve was one of a group of Dutch artists, known as the HagueSchool, who were inspired by their interpretation of light and nature. Mauve applied similar ideas to his paintings of the Dutch heathlands in the area of Gooi.
Work was part of the AFA tour (2009-2010): From Turner to Cézanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales
