Medal depicts scene of figure being rescued by three figures in boat.

Awarded to James Pearse for the rescue of three of the crew of the Trevaunance of St Agnes, Porthcawl, 29 March 1857. The ship was carrying a cargo of copper ore from St Ives to Swansea.

‘(Voted) the silver medal and 2l. [£2] each to James Pearse, Thomas Pearse, John Jones, pilots, and George Clark, seaman, in acknowledgement of their gallant services in putting off in a boat and rescuing 3 out of 4 men of the crew of the schooner Trevaunance, of St Agnes, which was wrecked, during an easterly gale, off Porthcawl, on the 29th March.'
