Early Medieval ceramic mould
A fragment of metalworking mould.
The surface has a partial impression of an object with a transverse moulding of circular cross-section at the end of a plate or runnel of flattened D cross-section, with suggestion of a slight expansion. Identification of the type of object being cast is difficult, but the impression shares characteristics with another fragment 2017.4H/3.16.
The fabric has a dark brown core and interior surface with an orange outer surface.
