Teapot
Stoneware teapot and cover, wheel thrown and modelled, incised and applied decoration. Pronounced stepped foot incised with rings; globular body; high spout protruding almost horizontally from the body, lower end of spout wide, upper part narrow; high twisted handle rising above body, attached at widest point of body and just below rim; domed cover incised with a spiral; steam hole; cylindrical knop. Applied decoration on either side of a large stylised elephant with disproportionately long and wide legs, and incised detailing. Exterior thickly coated with a mottled brown and green ash glaze, interior with clear glaze. Rim of lid, and rim of pot left unglazed. Three pronounced stilt marks on base.
