Cup of soft-paste porcelain, standing on a slightly flaring foot rim, rounded sides, loop handle; painted with a scene of children at play; left from handle, three girls, two seated one standing, around a doll's tea table, two of them playing with dolls, one, seated, pouring tea; in the centre, two boys playing shuttlecock and battledore; right from handle two boys playing at gardening, one digging with a spade, one with a wheelbarrow; the scene enclosed by foliage at either end, a flowering shrub to the left, an overhanging tree to the right with an open grassy landscape in the centre, the whole painted in a bright palette, the children being colourfully dressed.
