Bowl

Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)

Bowl, earthenware, shallow shape, rounded foot-rim with a number of incised bands and raised ridges around it, rounded curving sides, flaring everted rim, raised beading to the rim; transfer-printed blue with to the centre of the well the 'Willow' pattern, to one side of the scene three figures cross a bridge overlooked by a willow tree, beyond them is a boat on an expanse of water, to the other side is a pagoda surrounded by trees with a zigzag fence in the foreground, two birds fly over the scene, the scene enclosed within a border of alternating lattice-work and diaper panels, border to the rim of ornate scrolls, wheel shapes, Greek key shapes, and other geometric shapes on a blue scaled ground, the same border to the exterior sides of the bowl.
