Medieval silver ring
Silver finger ring. Alternate square (three) and rectangular (two) fields of ornament (niello) set in a row. The central square bears four equal arm crosses set at each corner and the two end squares bear an incised diamond and dash pattern. The smaller rectangualar panels abear a series of slash marks set a diagonal pattern. The fields are linked by narrow strands, faintly decorated with incised lines. The remainder of the hoop is plain, tapering slightly to base.
