Figure

Bow Porcelain Works
Eberlein, Johann Friedrich (1695-1749 Went to work at Meissen for Kaendler in 1734.)
Kaendler, Johann Joachim (1706-1775 Started work at Meissen 1731.)

Female figure, in a tall draped headdress, seated on a stump, and dressed in white trousers, enamelled with blue gold and red flowers, an open crimson dress reserved with similar flowers, and a short sleeved streaky blue robe, she holds a large scallop shell naturalistically painted on the exterior and with flowers and insects within, a shell encrusted support below. Base embellished with shells and leaves and standing on four C scroll feet. The rock at which the figure sits has a square hole in the back, presumably for a candle holder. Extensively damaged and repaired.
