Candlestick
Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Candlestick, earthenware, columnar form with spreading foot with a raised band around it, cylindrical body with a raised band around the bottom and top of it, shelving inwards at the shoulder before bulging out again and then flaring out to a broad everted rim; the decoration reserved against a black enamel ground so that the red earthenware body is revealed, this then transfer-printed in black, an egg and dart border to the foot-rim, the top and bottom of the cylindrical body, and to the neck, a tongue border to the foot and a tongue border radiating out around the rim.
