Dish, vegetable, and cover

Baker, Bevans and Irwin, Glamorgan Pottery (1813-1839)

Vegetable dish, earthenware, round-ended oblong shape with straight-sided foot-rim, rounded curving sides and spreading rim, the rim lobed and moulded with several raised bands around it, to either end of the dish the rim extends into two solid handles moulded with scrolled foliage, high domed cover in the shape of a round-ended oblong, several raised moulded bands around the rim of the cover, handle to the top of the cover broken off and missing so that only the bottom section of the handle, with moulded flower head, remains; transfer-printed in blue with to the centre of the well of the dish a large spreading spray of flowers and foliage, to the sides of the well and the rim of the dish several smaller sprays of flowers and foliage, to the sides of the cover two large and two small sprays of flowers and foliage, dentil border to the rim of the dish and the rim of the cover of small circles and diamond shapes issuing small flowers.
