Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Under a trefoiled canopy, decorated by quatrefoils and supported by side-shafts with tabernacle work, St.Stephen vested in alb and dalmatic (the robes of a deacon), holding two of his traditional symbols - three stones upraised in his right hand, (indicative of the manner of his martyrdom); a Book of the Gospels in his left. In base, under a carved gothic arch, the archdeacon two-thirds length gowned (or surpliced) and capped in prayer to the left.
Site Name: Castell Coch, Aberthin
Notes: Not very far north of the medieval Portway (now followed in large measure by the A48 road )
