North Sands type vessel built 1944 by United Shipyards Ltd., Montreal (engine by Dominion Engineering Works, Montreal) for the Canadian government, managed for MoWT by Park Steamship Co., Montreal. Management was later transferred to Andrew Crawford & Co Ltd, Glasgow. 1946 – Ownership transferred to Ministry of Transport, managed by South American Saint Line, Cardiff. 1950 – Sold to Kingsport Shipping Co Ltd., Halifax, Nova Scotia and renamed KINGSBRIDGE, managed by Capeside Steamship Co (Goulandris Brothers), London.
