S.S. BLAIRSPEY, glass negative

Port broadside view of S.S. BLAIRSPEY (and watermans boat) entering Cardiff Docks, c.1936.

S.S. BLAIRSPEY (4155 gt). Built 1929 by Ardrossan Dockyard & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Ardrossan for George Nisbet & Co, Glasgow. Her first wartime convoy was SC-7 sailing from Sydney to Grangemouth with a cargo of timber. Despite three torpedo strikes and a badly damaged bow, she made it to Scotland. New bows were fitted by Lithgow's and she was taken over by MOWT and renamed EMPIRE SPEY, to serve on three more convoys. 1946 - returned to George Nesbit reverting back to BLAIRSPEY. 1961 - Sold to Greek shipowners and renamed EVANDROS. She was scrapped in 1967.
