Curtain
Bedroom curtain, about 1956. Black ground with repeat pattern of trees, flower vases, birds and female figures. The main colours are yellow, green, blue and red. Unlined.
The material wasl purchased by Mary Pearce in Cardiff, in about 1956, to make a pair of bedroom curtains. She had returned to the city having completed a nursing course in London. Upon her return, her mother allowed her to redecorate her bedroom at the family home in Radyr, Cardiff. Her mother was shocked by the vibrancy of the chosen fabric. Mary wanted something that was modern and fashionable.
