Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
The fourth child of Augustus and Ida John, Edwin (1905-78) was born in Paris. After a brief career as a middleweight boxer he became a watercolourist. He inherited the estate of his aunt Gwen and did much to secure her posthumous reputation. This vivid oil sketch was painted at Alderney Manor in about 1911, when he was six years old.
