Roman copper alloy brooch
Bridge brooch (of Hull's type 229) with symmetrical, arched bow with inlaid decoration and small matching terminals, and hinged pin. The perforated catch-plate is broken. The front of the brooch is entirely 'tinned' against which the inlay appears dark-grey: on the bridge a stalk with three pairs of lobate leaves is mirrored either side of a cruciform arrangement of triangular leaves at the brooche's centre.
