Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales

Red and black striped flannel bedgown. Edges of turn-backs at cuffs, centre front opening of skirt section, bottom edge of bodice and skirt are bound in black wool twill tape. Two decorative domed metal buttons at centre back waist. They are embossed with a woven pattern and appear to be painted (?). Two large and one small popper button fastening (copper alloy) down centre front of bodice section. These have a black coating. Selvage edges along centre back seam. Seam at waist. Black cotton tape stitched over turn-back at inside of neck opening. Remains of roughly stitched yellow threads along this tape. Seams are machine stitched using black thread. Hand stitches to secure buttons and poppers.
