Collection of slides forming lecture "Rails in the Slate Industry" by D.R. Geering, UMIST 3rd year Mechanical Engineering Projects, c.1975 (copy of lecture notes in related material). Man riding an inclide, the absence of any safety chains or brake. The men who quarry the slate are known as "rockmen" and those who load the wagons and operate the inclines as "hookers"
