Sash
Sash worn by Rosemary James (1930-2019) when she was crowned Miss Llyswen, 1950s. Diagonal red, white and blue stripes. Fringe at both ends. A strip of white ribbon has been machine-stitched to one side, with 'Miss Llyswern' hand painted in red.
Sash made from stiff tabby woven synthetic ribbon, printed diagonal stripes of red and blue on white ground. Separate white synthetic twill-woven fabric (L43.7 x W6.7cm) with hand-inscribed lettering (using red paint) applied to ribbon with machine stitches using white thread. Red, white and blue fringe at ends: each strand consisting of two strands of cotton which are wrapped in red/white/blue silk floss, resulting in a chevron pattern.
