Sampler made by Maggie Lewis, Cardiff, 1886.
Canvas, embroidered with coloured wools in cross stitch. Divided horizontally into three compartments: the first contains capital letters of the alphabet and the date 1886, in two rows; the second contains small letters of the alphabet, the text 'GOD IS LOVE', and the inscription 'Maggie Lewis Age 10' in three rows; the third contains a house flanked by floral, crown and flag designs. There is a border of a floral wavy stem.
