Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top, the flange and underside of the lid partially obscured by the frame; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'The Trooper' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing a rustic scene with a cavalier on a grey horse drinking from a glass of wine while a female figure and a dog stand to one side, any border which may enclose the print is obscured by the frame.
