Welsh costume apron
Part of a colourful costume worn by a member of the Royal Welsh Ladies Choir in the 1930s. It was designed to stand out on stage. The choir from Pontypridd travelled in north America and Europe and performed in their Welsh costumes. They were selling Wales to the world.
Black & white checked apron gathered into wool twill waistband; one large tuck above hem; wide double turnback along hem, narrow single turn backs along sides; all machine stitched. Replacement black tabby-woven cotton ties have been stitched on to both upper corners.
