Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
These are well preserved remains (~50%) from the inhumation burial of an infant (6-12 months)
The burial is from Phase D: 436-772 AD
They were buried in an extended supine position in a simple grave oriented West-East
The individual's remains showed signs of rickets which weakens bones and causes them to bow and scurvy which leads to porotic lesions, cribia and porotic hyperostosis in the cranium. Scurvy is caused by a lack of vitamin C. Rickets is caused by a lack of Vitamin D from sunlight, so one illness could be caused by the other as a sick individual is kept indoors to recover and subsequently doesn't see enough sunlight.
The burial is associate by proximity to SK136, SK138, and SK139
