Plough
‘Dyffryn No 1’ plough. It was made by a blacksmith, with a mouldboard from William Isaac and Son's foundry, south west wales.
Iron plough with a cast iron frame/frog. Knife coulter attached to beam. Handles missing. Share wired in position.
Every farmer needed a plough. Without one, he couldn't turn the soil to plant the crops for the coming year. How easy it was to handle depended on the blacksmith. It needed to be strong yet not too heavy to handle behind horses. Making a good plough was a sign of being a good blacksmith.
