Stand for sauce tureen
Pollard, William (1803 - 1854)
Stand for cream tureen, soft-paste 'duck-egg' porcelain with a pale yellowish-green translucency; standing on a straight sided foot rim, cushion moulded and slightly curved spreading sides; lobed lip with six large and six small lobes; edge moulded with c-scrolls and ribbon-tied flowers and foliage; painted in polychrome enamels in the centre with a spray of wild roses, and six sprigs around the edge , including forget-me-not, wild strawberries, and buttercups; elaborate gilt border to the cavetto, a wide band of a dotted trellis, reserved with demi lunes enclosing crosses, with feather motifs and ivy pendants; plain gilt band to lip.
