Colour photograph showing the, cracked in two, Burrows Tin Plate Works plaque removed from original postion and lent against a wall, c.1990. The date of 1874 on the Burrows Tinplate Works (also known as the Boro, or Aberavon or Glanwalia Works) plaque is one year earlier than the usually quoted date for the works commencing production. It presumably refers to the construction of the works buildings which would typically occur six months to a year before a plant was commissioned. The works closed in 1953.
