Letter
Letter, dated 16 April 1996, sent by the North Cardiganshire branch of Cymdeithas yr Iaith (Welsh Language Society) to Queen Elizabeth II asking her 'to proffer a long overdue apology to the people of Wales for the historical persecution of the Welsh language by English governments and rulers of the past'. The letter was sent in advance of the Queen's visit to Aberystwyth on 31 May 1996.
