Contemporary commemorative copy of an illuminated album presented to the Prince of Wales, on behalf of the Seamen of the Port of Cardiff, during his visit to city on Monday, 23 June 1919. The album is bound in red leather.

Some of the men featured in the album participated in the presentation ceremony, as reported in The Cambria Daily Leader on Tuesday, 24 June 1919: "Thousands of people welcomed the Prince of Wales at Cardiff on Monday night when he arrived in readiness for his motor tour through the Rhondda Valley to-day, for his visit to the Royal Show, and his admission to the honorary freedom of Cardiff during the week. He was met on the platform by the Lord Mayor and other members of the Corporation. When he emerged from the station his own company of the Welsh Guards (of which he is Colonel) gave a Royal salute, whilst the regimental band played the National Anthem. The approach to the station was lined by a large body of torpedoed seamen, whom HRH inspected. He chatted with a number of the men, and was particularly interested in the stories of Wm Cox, the sole survivor of the SS Corilia. Cox has artificial legs. 'I am proud of you all,' the Prince remarked. HRH was subsequently presented with an illuminated album by the seamen, and for this he said: 'I am very grateful to you all; I shall prize it very much'."
