Mounted photograph of a print entitled "A Welch Peasant and his Wife". Distributed to commemorate the French Invasion of Fishguard in 1797. The print depicts a man with a round crowned hat, short jacket, waistcoat, kneebreaches and stockings. The woman wears an identical hat, checked gown, arpon and red cloak. The man carries a scythe, and the woman a pitchfork.

Photographer Joseph Collings was based at 47 Bute Street, Cardiff. He is last seen in newspaper adverts and trade directories in 1875 and thereafter the business was continued by his widow and son, operating under his wife's name Margaret Robinson 'M.R.Collings'.
