Soup tureen and cover, soft-paste porcelain, 'duck egg' type with greenish translucency, slight blue-green tinge to the glaze. Tureen, round, on a turned pedestal foot, hemispherical body, two up-turned spindle handles with moulded florets; painted in polychrome enamels on each side with a large vertical-weave basket, overflowing with garden flowers, on a background of earth, grass and flowering plants, and with a large spray of five pink roses under each handle, all below a band of scrolled and seeded gilding; the shoulders painted with six sprays of pink roses below a similar gilt band; gilt dentil border at foot, shoulders and lip, handles partly gilded. Shallow, conical cover rising to a flat top edged with beads and with a pineapple finial, ladle aperture to lip; painted with four sprays of pink roses below a band of scrolled and seeded gilding, finial partly gilded.
