A Great Western Railway 5600 class 0-6-2T heads a train composed of empty coaching stock near Swanbridge on the former Taff Vale Railway Cadoxton Branch between Sully and Lavernock in the late 1940s. The view appears to be looking north east in the cutting approximately three-quarters of a mile south west of Lavernock Station. The locomotive is carrying the post-nationalisation headlamp code for an empty coaching stock train, but has not been repainted in British Railways livery or fitted with a smokebox number plate, which suggests the transition period from GWR to BR.
