The ampulla is incomplete and is folded in on itself and missing the side loops (with a distorted length of 28.5mm, originally c. 70mm and with a weight of 51.4g containing sediment). The mouth is damaged and mostly closed. The neck has straight parallel sides and is of flat section (23mm wide and 5mm thick). The neck is torn and damaged on one side. Stubs from the side loops begin 2mm above the body and have a length of 10mm (3.2mm internal). The body has a maximum width of 39.2mm and a thickness of 7.3mm. The obverse face was convex and is decorated with the scallop motif, representing the emblem of pilgrimage, and has seven bold and curved ribs producing a corrugated effect, of Spencer (1990, p59), Type I. The ribs are wider at the base and narrow towards the neck, with the suggestion that they continue and weaken along the neck. The reverse face appears flat with a bevelled edge but is hidden by the fold.
