Banner
Banner designed by Thalia and Ian Campbell depicting scenes from the Greenham Common peace camp, early 1980s. Sewn by Jan Higgs. Four versions of this banner were made, with small details differing in each one. "Sheila Owen Jones, academic from south Wales, said why don't you make a banner of everything that's happen in Greenham up till now, 1983. So Ian and I did it together and it's become iconic. It's been in the Imperial War Museum, it's been in the V&A. But I never would've thought of doing it myself. Sheila suggested it... There are four of them actually... Well I used to go up and sit round the fire at Greenham, and I used to listen to what people were talking about and I used to go and stitch it – make it permanent, you know".
