Cilyrychen Limestone Quarry, near Llandebie, showing narrow gauge platform wagons with wooden underframes and dumb buffers, carrying steel boxes for loading limestone. Location is on top of the northernmost bank of three kilns – the mass concrete early C20 kilns, looking NW - c.f. p74.656(4). The south east return of the parapet wall on the front of the kilns is visible top right. The loading boxes were probably used to load the three conveyors, seen at the top of the slide, which fed the tops of the kilns which were above significantly above rail level. The standard gauge steam rail crane in 2014.16/142 was probably used to lift the loading boxes to conveyor level. If so then a length of standard gauge track may have run along the rear of the kilns.
