A note from information communicated by Sir Illtyd Thomas concerning the old custom of pickling wheat in the Cardiff area - "... it was always the custom at the end [of the harvest] to draw the sign of the cross on the ground with a rake. Sir Illtyd Thomas always saw it done by his own father in Ely". (In English)
