Launched December 1943 as BRONSON ALCOTT by New England Shipbuilding Corp., South Portland, Maine (engine by Vulcan Ironworks, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania), but completed 1944 as SAMAVON for MoWT, managed by Prince Line, London. 1947 – Sold to Furness Withy & Co., London and renamed PACIFIC NOMAD. 1954 – Sold to Panama Steamship Co., Monrovia, and renamed NIKOLOS under the Liberian flag and managed by S G Embiricos, London. 1960 – Sold to Diana Maritime Corp., (Liberian flag), and renamed STAMATIS, managed by Frinton Shipbrokers, London. 1964 – Management transferred to Pegasus Ocean Services Ltd., London. Same name and ownership. She was blown ashore and wrecked near Madras during a typhoon in November 1966 and was broken up in situ. (mariners-list)
