Memorial plaque
Bronze memorial plaque, often known as the 'Dead Man's Penny'. Relief of Brittania holding Relief of Britannia holding laurel wreath, surrounded by inscription: HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR / BRINDLEY RYHS [sic] EDMUNDS.
Sent to the family of Private Brinley Rhys Edmunds of Dunraven St, Barry. He died of dysentery at Konigsbruck Prisoner of War Camp on 5 September 1918, aged 19, while serving with the Durham Light Infantry. He originally enlisted with the Welch Regiment, but was discharged for being underage in 1915.
