A sculptured crowned head, suggested to be a likeness of Llywellyn. Or Henry III?
This crowned head was found in a pile of rubble during excavations at Deganwy Castle, north Wales, in 1965. Deganwy Castle had changed hands many times during its history, but from 1213 it was rebuilt by Llywelyn. This head, which dates from this period, may represent Llywelyn himself.
