Portrait of John Hughes, aged 4, 1813 One of three portraits of the children of William Hughes, a Pwllheli shopkeeper. The paintings are early works by the self-taught Hugh Hughes, who had a long career as a portrait and landscape painter in Wales, working mostly for middle class, Nonconformist patrons.
