*The letter is in S.R's handwritting on the back of the document : '...There is plenty of coal (sic) in Tennessee, but I shoud point out that there have sometimes been challenges. There are few people from Wales here, but they praise the place as healthy and pleasant. It is likely that there will be coal there at times... Dec. 01, 1856'.
