Tail coat
Tail coat, gold embroidered. Part of a uniform worn by Sir John Arthur Herbert when he was the Governor of Bengal under the British Raj (1939-43).
Black woollen cloth, with cream silk lining. Hook and eye fastners down the front. Nine buttons with the British Royal Coat of Arms on front. Four buttons on back. Heavily embroidred on front, cuffs and tail with a floral design in gold metal thread. Detachable white collar.
