Truncheon presented to Deputy Chief Constable Peter Jones of Carmarthenshire Constabulary, late 19th century.
The painting and decorating of a truncheon was more than just ornamentation - by having a royal crown or coat of arms, it showed that the constable was acting with the authority of the Crown.
Painted white with crown and Royal cypher VR painted in red, gold and black. With unpainted, turned handgrip. The number 269 is stamped on the butt end of the handgrip.
