John Curwen (1816-1880)

SWINSTEAD, George Hillyard (1860-1926)

John Curwen popularised the tonic sol-fa method of teaching music, which contributed to the revival of choral singing in Wales in the late nineteenth century. George Hillyard Swinstead was a British artist associated with the Suffolk school.
