Cambrian Colliery, photograph
Photograph captioned 'Cambrian Colliery, Clydach Vale, Rhondda. The bottom part of the framework of the winding frame stood above the mouth of the shaft where the cage travelled upwards and downwards carrying miners, and coal in trams. It was as essential as the part which carried the huge winding wheels at the very top of the frame. They no longer enjoy an equivalent importance for they are now only of scrap value.' Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
